Competition Kickstarter 2025/2026

This page gives details about a competition kickstarter tournament that we're running to get our players into competitive shape for the start of DDLC and tournaments during the 2025/2026 season.

Tournament Format

  • The tournament will be round-robin (potentially split into divisions) followed by a knockout play
  • Enter with your league partner(s) [if you're on a league team] or if you're not playing league enter with another partner of your choice (who is not playing league). You must sign up with a partner.
The events are set up as follows:
 

Division 10

  • Open Doubles - Division 10 - 1st pairing
  • Open Doubles - Division 10 - 2nd pairing

Division 9

  • Open Doubles - Division 9 - 1st pairing
  • Open Doubles - Division 9 - 2nd pairing

Division 8+

  • Open Doubles - Division 8+ - 1st pairing
  • Open Doubles - Division 8+ - 2nd pairing

Cost & Rules

  • This tournament is free to enter for all Flaming Feathers club members.
  • You do not need to be on a league team, but if you are on a league team we expect you to enter with your league partner(s)
  • If you are on multiple league teams you can only enter two partnerships in total
  • Each match is played as the best of 3 sets to 21, with setting up to 30.

Arranging your matches - when do you play them?

  • When you enter the tournament, you will be assigned a number of games by the tournament organiser.
  • It is your responsibility to arrange to play these games against your opponents by specific dates which will be communicated to you.
  • You can play these games on Tuesdays (Division 9 & 10), Wednesdays (Division 8+), Fridays (League Players), or Sundays (from 14:30 to 15:30). You can also arrange to play your games on your own time (i.e. not at a club session). The number of possible players at these sessions will be reduced by 2 to not impact other players.
  • Scores should be reported to the organisers in person or via WhatsApp.
  • Scores will be uploaded to the tournament website, and once input, it is your responsibility to ensure that the scores are correct.

Example Entries

A Division 9 league team consists of player A, B, C, and D.

  • Players A+B will enter Open Doubles - Division 9 - 1st Pairing
  • Players C+D will enter Open Doubles - Division 9 - 1st Pairing
  • Players A+C [or A+D] can enter Open Doubles - Division 9 - 2nd Pairing 
  • Players B+D [or B+C] can enter Open Doubles - Division 9 - 2nd Pairing
